The Optional Owner Scorecard

How optional
are you?

Fifteen questions about how your business runs today. You’ll see how much it still depends on you, where that dependency lives, and what I’d work on first.

Most owners can feel how much their business needs them. Very few have measured it. This scorecard measures it against three of the principles I build businesses on: design for absence, plan your own redundancy, and let the business serve the life.

Answer for how things are now, not how they’d be on a good week. There are no trick questions, and the honest answer is the useful one.

How it worksChoose the answer closest to the truth for each question, then tell me where to send your results. You’ll see your score straight away, and I’ll email you a copy with a few places I’d start. I get a copy too, so I can take a look, and if you reply, I’ll answer.

Where should I send your results?

You’ll see your score as soon as you press the button, and I’ll email you a copy. I get a copy too, so I can look at it with you. Only your name and email are needed. The rest is optional, but it’s what I’ll read most closely.
